Project India was conceived in 2005 with the aim of providing equipment, skills and manpower to the peoples of Southern India. The programme is simple, to take individuals from across the UK state and private schools systems and send them to Tirunelveli in Southern India for three weeks every summer. During the three weeks the individuals will have to function as a team and work alongside local craftsmen with the aim of providing long-term infrastructure to people in need. In order to attend the programme, the students have to fundraise as well as learning new skills.
"United Church Schools Trust (UCST) and United Learning Trust (ULT) are pleased to be fully involved in Project India as it develops. We believe that young people have much to contribute as well as much to gain as they participate in such a programme. Students in our schools and academies will find this an opportunity within which to learn more about leadership, teamwork and service - all of which are core values for the organisation."
