FIRST HAND EXPERIENCES

In honour of International Women's Day, we will be joined by Kerrieanne Cartwright, Expedition Leader and Health & Safety Manager. Exploration and adventure is something which is enjoyed by all genders but expedition leading is still a fairly male dominated industry. With this years' International Women's Day focused on #ChooseToChallenge, and the efforts made to forge a gender equal world, this presents a great opportunity for this webinar to explore the unique challenges that come with leading expeditions as a woman.

 kerrieanne Cartwright

EXPEDITION LEADER

After travelling across South East Asia in 2007 Kerrieanne knew she wanted to see more of the world and make a difference! So on her return to the ‘normal 9-5 grind’ she began working towards her qualifications, eventually becoming an Expedition and Duke of Edinburgh Leader, Emergency Medical Technician & NEBOSH. A far throw from her day job as a Construction Site Health & Safety Manager, Kerrieanne has led expeditions throughout the UK and world world.

Whilst currently on a career break to look after her son, Kerrieanne has come back to answer your questions on leading expeditions, from the female perspective! But before you ask, yes, she will be taking her son up a mountain, as soon as possible!

when gender influences actions and approaches

Throughout the hour-long session, Kerrieanne will expand on her experiences as an expedition leader and discuss the situations where gender has influenced actions and approaches.

We've kept things broad for a reason - so that submitted questions and live queries can guide the session. We hope that the webinar will give attendees a fuller understanding of the challenges that are faced by all expedition leaders and the unique situations that can arise as a result of being a woman in the expedition field. We welcome those who join us to submit their questions within the booking form, and also during the session by writing in the chat box.
